Fruit Trees

I would love to have a fruit tree growing in my backyard. Who wouldn't love to be able to walk out the door and pick fresh fruit?  We plant a vegetable garden every year but I've never attempted to plant a fruit tree. 

I would really love to have a few Persimmon trees in our backyard.  They are actually the favorite fruit of the orient and a Japanese persimmon tree can produce 100 pounds of fruit in the fifth year.  Okay we would never eat that much fruit but imagine how grateful the food banks would be around here if I could donate that much food!
